EV loss
How much EV your choice gave up compared with the best available action.

- What it means
- EV loss is the gap between the best action's EV and the EV of the action you chose. Picking the best action costs nothing; everything else costs something.
- How it is calculated
- EV loss = EV(best action) − EV(chosen action). The app also shows it as a percentage of the pot, which makes spots with different pot sizes comparable.
- Worked example
- In the small blind at 10bb with a 0.125bb ante, pushing a hand is worth +1.2bb and folding is worth −0.625bb. Folding loses about 1.8bb. The pot was 1.75bb, so that is about 104% of the pot, a Blunder.
- Why it matters
- EV loss separates a small slip from a disaster. Folding aces and folding a marginal hand are both 'wrong', but one costs far more, and EV loss says so.
