Broadway
Any card from ten to ace, or a starting hand made of two of them.
Last updated
- What it means
- The broadway cards are the ten, jack, queen, king and ace. A broadway hand holds two of them. Broadway is also the name of the ace-high straight, ten to ace.
- How it is calculated
- Suited broadways share a suit, which adds flush draws; offsuit broadways do not. Both make top pair often, and the weaker ones are often behind a better broadway hand.
- Worked example
- KQs, AJo and QTs are broadway hands: both cards are ten or higher. 98s is not, because the 9 and the 8 are both below ten.
- Why it matters
- The charts group hands this way, so labels such as suited broadways and offsuit broadways name whole blocks of the grid at once.
