Equity realization
How much of its equity a hand turns into EV: its EV as a share of its equity times the pot.

- What it means
- Equity assumes both players check to the river. Real hands get bet off their equity, or win more than their share by betting. Realization compares what the solver says a hand is worth with what its raw equity would win.
- How it is calculated
- Realization = EV ÷ (equity × pot), where the pot is all the money in the middle, bets included, and the EV counts what the hand wins from here. Over 100% means the hand wins more than its share, under 100% less. Equity comes from the Rust engine against the opponent's range at the node, weighted by reach; EV comes from the solver.
- Worked example
- With 40% equity in a 10bb pot, a check-down would win 4bb. If the solver's EV for the hand is 3bb, it realizes 3 ÷ 4 = 75%.
- Why it matters
- Hands in position, with draws to the nuts or with good blockers tend to over-realize; weak, out of position or dominated hands under-realize. It explains why two hands with the same equity play so differently.
