Reach
How much of a hand is still in a player's range at a decision, after the actions it took to get there.

- What it means
- A range is not all or nothing. Each combo starts with its preflop weight, and every action the player takes on the way to a decision keeps only the share of the time the combo takes that action.
- How it is calculated
- Reach = preflop weight × the frequency of each of the player's own earlier actions on the line. Combos that use a board card have a reach of 0.
- Worked example
- The big blind defends a combo 60% of the time preflop, then checks it on the flop 50% of the time. Facing a bet after that check, its reach is 0.6 × 0.5 = 30%.
- Why it matters
- It is what makes a range narrow as a hand goes on. In study mode a hand's fill height is its reach, so the hands a player rarely gets to a spot with look nearly empty.
