Pot odds
The ratio of the pot to the price of a call, such as 3:1.
Last updated
- What it means
- Pot odds express the price of a call as a ratio of what you can win to what you must pay.
- How it is calculated
- Pot odds = pot before the call : cost of the call. They convert to required equity as cost ÷ (pot + cost).
- Worked example
- The pot is 30bb and you must call 10bb, so you are getting 30:10, or 3:1. That converts to needing 25% equity.
- Why it matters
- Pot odds are the quickest way to price a call at the table, and the feedback line quotes them whenever a call is involved.
