Range edge
A hand on the boundary of a range, where a neighboring hand in the grid takes a different action.

- What it means
- Range-edge hands are the weakest hands that still play and the strongest hands that fold. They are the part of the chart you have to learn.
- How it is calculated
- A hand is on the edge when its main action differs from at least one of its neighbors in the 13 by 13 grid: the hand one rank up or down, or the same ranks suited or offsuit.
- Worked example
- If A5s opens from a position and A4s folds, both hands are on the edge. Getting A5s right 9 times in 10 says far more about your chart than folding 72o 100 times.
- Why it matters
- Easy folds and easy raises inflate accuracy. Range-edge hands measure whether you know where the lines are.
