Scoop
Winning both the high and the low half of a split pot, or the high when no low is made.

- What it means
- In a hi-lo game, a scoop is taking the whole pot: the best high and the best low, or the high alone when no hand makes a low.
- How it is calculated
- A calculator counts a scoop when one hand wins the high outright and either wins the low outright or no low qualifies.
- Worked example
- On a board of 9-10-J-Q-K no low is possible, so the best high hand scoops 100% of the pot.
- Why it matters
- Scooping is where most of the profit in hi-lo games comes from; a hand that can only win half rarely makes money.
