Wet board
A connected or suited board where straights, flushes or strong draws to them are possible.

- What it means
- A wet board already allows a straight or a flush, or offers both a flush draw and a straight draw. Hand strength changes a lot from street to street.
- How it is calculated
- The reading page calls a board wet when three cards fit inside five consecutive ranks, three cards share a suit, or two cards share a suit and two cards sit close enough for a straight draw.
- Worked example
- J♥T♥9♠ is wet: 87, KQ and Q8 make straights now, and any two hearts have a flush draw with 9 outs.
- Why it matters
- On a wet board the nuts often changes on the turn and river, so strong hands bet to charge draws and top pair is worth less.
