Monotone board
A board where every card is the same suit, so any two cards of that suit already make a flush.

- What it means
- A monotone flop has three cards of one suit. Anyone holding two of that suit has a flush, and one card of the suit gives a flush draw.
- How it is calculated
- Check the suits of the flop. On a monotone board the highest card of the suit in a hand matters most, since flushes are compared card by card.
- Worked example
- On Q♥8♥4♥ a hand with A♥ and any other heart is the nut flush, and there are 10 hearts left in the deck.
- Why it matters
- Holding the ace of the suit blocks the nut flush and changes how a hand should be played, even without a made flush.
