First-in shoving
Shoving or folding first in at a full table, where every player behind you might call.
Last updated
- What it means
- The multi-player push/fold skills: shoving from early or late position when everyone before you folded, and calling a shove from a player in front of you.
- How it is calculated
- Every extra player behind is another chance to run into a strong hand, so the range shrinks with each seat to act. Once someone calls, the players behind fold, so each showdown is heads-up.
- Worked example
- At 10bb on a 6-max table, under the gun has 5 players behind and shoves a tight range. The button has 2 behind and shoves several times as many hands.
- Why it matters
- It is the same idea as opening ranges, but with the whole stack at risk, so mistakes cost more.
