No-limit
A betting structure where you may bet or raise any amount up to every chip in front of you.

- What it means
- In a no-limit game there is no cap on a bet beyond the size of your stack. No-limit Texas hold'em is the most played form of poker. Pot-limit caps each bet at the size of the pot, and fixed-limit sets every bet and raise in steps.
- How it is calculated
- The smallest bet is one big blind. A raise must be at least as large as the bet or raise before it, and the largest is all in. You choose the size, so bet sizing is part of the strategy rather than a rule.
- Worked example
- In a 1/2 game the player before you bets 10. You can fold, call 10, raise to at least 20, or go all in for your whole 200 stack. In a fixed-limit game at the same blinds, the raise would be exactly one step.
- Why it matters
- Because any hand can cost your whole stack, no-limit rewards careful hand selection and punishes calls that cannot stand a big bet on the next street.
