All-in
Betting, raising or calling with every chip you have left.
Last updated
- What it means
- A player who is all-in has no chips left to bet, so they stay in the hand to the showdown without acting again.
- How it is calculated
- You can call all-in for less than the full bet; you then only win as much from each opponent as you put in, and any extra goes to a side pot the others play for.
- Worked example
- You have 4bb left and face an 8bb bet. You can fold or call all-in for 4bb; raising is not possible.
- Why it matters
- In tournaments stacks get short, so many decisions become all-in or fold. The push/fold drills train exactly those.
