Call
Matching the current bet to stay in the hand.
Last updated
- What it means
- A call puts in exactly enough chips to match the biggest bet on this street. It does not raise the price for anyone else.
- How it is calculated
- The cost is the current bet minus what you have already put in this street. If you have fewer chips than that, you can call all-in for what you have.
- Worked example
- You posted 1bb in the big blind and the button raises to 2.5bb. Calling costs 1.5bb more.
- Why it matters
- Calling is how you continue with hands that are worth seeing more cards but not worth raising. Whether a call is right depends on the pot odds.
