Rebuy
Paying to top a stack back up during a tournament's rebuy period, priced like a second buy-in.

- What it means
- In a rebuy tournament, a player below a set stack (often the starting stack, sometimes zero after busting) can pay to top back up during a set early period.
- How it is calculated
- Compare its cost per chip, cost ÷ chips, with the original buy-in's, cost ÷ starting stack. Chips are worth close to their chipEV this early, so a rebuy at or below that price is a bargain.
- Worked example
- A $20 buy-in for a 3,000-chip starting stack costs $0.00667 a chip. A $20 rebuy for 3,000 chips costs the same: even money, worth taking once you are short enough that the extra chips change how you can play.
- Why it matters
- Treating a rebuy like any other chip purchase, priced against the buy-in you already made, keeps the decision simple instead of a gut feeling about being stuck.
