Steaming
Playing angry or upset, usually looser and bigger than usual, the same thing as tilt.

- What it means
- A player who is steaming has let a bad beat or a run of losses change how they play: calling too much, raising too much, or moving up in stakes to win it back.
- How it is calculated
- Watch for the signs in yourself: you want one hand back, you raise to punish a player, you buy in again without thinking. Take a break or end the session; a stop-loss set before you start makes the call for you.
- Worked example
- You lose 2 pots of 100bb each in a row, then raise 9 of the next 10 hands from every seat. That is steaming: you are playing the last hand, not this one.
- Why it matters
- Steaming lasts for many hands, so stopping it early saves more than fixing any single bad call.
