Villain profile
A description of how an opponent deviates from GTO, such as folding too often.
Last updated
- What it means
- A villain profile is a set of frequency adjustments: how often this opponent folds to a steal, calls a 3-bet, continuation-bets and so on.
- How it is calculated
- Start from the GTO frequencies and shift them. A nit folds more; a calling station calls more; a maniac raises more.
- Worked example
- A GTO big blind might fold to a button steal about 60% of the time, while a nit folds 80% and a calling station 30%.
- Why it matters
- Knowing the profile tells you which way to deviate. Against the nit, steal more; against the station, bluff less and value-bet more.
