Limp
Calling the big blind preflop instead of raising, when nobody has raised yet.

- What it means
- A limp enters the pot for the minimum. Charts almost never limp outside the small blind, but many players at low stakes and live games limp often.
- How it is calculated
- The limper puts in 1bb. Each extra limper adds another 1bb, so two limpers and the blinds make a 3.5bb pot before you act.
- Worked example
- UTG and the cutoff both call 1bb and the button acts next. The pot is 1 + 1 + 0.5 + 1 = 3.5bb, all of it from players who showed weakness.
- Why it matters
- Limpers usually hold weak or medium hands they did not want to raise. That makes them good targets for a raise, and it is why limped pots need their own ranges.
