Over-limp
Limping behind one or more players who have already limped.

- What it means
- An over-limp calls 1bb after other limpers instead of raising. It keeps the pot small and multiway.
- How it is calculated
- Over-limp hands that want a cheap multiway flop and hit big or miss: small pairs that set-mine, suited connectors and small suited aces.
- Worked example
- UTG limps and you hold 44 on the cutoff. Over-limping costs 1bb for a pot of 3.5bb, and a set comes on about 12% of flops.
- Why it matters
- Raising those hands builds a big pot out of position against several players, while folding throws away a good price. Over-limping is the middle road.
